ah the desert.

so it's time for a personal post!

this past sunday we had an awesome day. we walked the tempe arts festival & i bought a new cup from my bird lady, village clayworks. she's so awesome.

then, while looking at a booth with amazing embroidery of landscapes (they looked like photographs from a distance (we were soooo close to buying one, but the one we both loved was $3000!)) bryan said "i wish we'd gone hiking today" so, we booked it home, packed our stuff & headed to the superstitions around 3:00 pm. a little late in the day, but we're in full blown wildflower season here. everything is green. it's magical.

it was by far one of my most favorite local hikes we've ever done. thank you art, for inspiring us to get out!!!

we let the dogs off the leash so they could splash in the pools.

finn LOVES hiking. he is completely captivated by the wind & trees.

my boys.

see... green!!!!

favorite detail.

the girls love hiking.

I LOVE THIS. thank the lord for the timer option. we're getting a canvas of this one, for sure.

this one makes me happy.

yeah, for pictures of mama & finn together.

my sweet, sweet kylie. skye couldn't be bothered to go over there with her- she was chasing bugs or something.

bryan & the moon.

on the way home we stopped by a mom & pop's pizza joint. we love finding little holes in the walls. we got home around 9:30 with finn passed out in his car seat & we quickly crashed after.

such a lovely, lovely day.

locally grown produce discussion

my friend dustin, runs the amazing store amazing green planet in louisville ky. i adore this store. i just got an email that i wanted to pass on to all my louisville readers:

::::::::::::::::::

Discover the Benefits of Locally Grown Produce This Thursday, February 25th, with a Place On Earth CSA Farm

On Thursday, From 5:30-7pm, Our Dear Friends Carden and Courtney Willis will be at Amazing Green Planet to discuss the benefits of Community Supported Agriculture. Their CSA has been in operation for five years and for the past two at their current location in Henry County. A typical share includes a weekly delivery of in season produce that is ripe and ready to eat. The Shares vary from week to week as the growing season matures. CSA's create a very direct link to the food we eat and our relationship to how it is grown.

As true stewards of the earth, Carden and Courtney's work is one of the most effective ways to bring sustainability into our everyday lives. Here is a link to their website:

www.aplaceonearthcsa.com

There will be a small assortment of refreshments provided for the guests that come out that evening.

If you have any questions, please call (502) 290-1358, or email amazinggreenplanet@gmail.com

i wish i was in town to attend. if you do let me know how it was!

we got some big environmental days a coming!

world water day is this sunday! i hope you'll commit by then (if you don't already) to using a nalgene or klean kanteen instead of buying disposable water bottles. it's down right silly to keep buying those things... it's going to save you so much money & it's way better for the environment.

reusablebags.com has some of their bottles on sale for 60% off... so get on over there!

if you send me an email with a picture of you & your reusable bottle i'll give you 10% off your next portrait session!

here's to our environment :)

& then... next saturday is earth hour.

Turn Out. Take Action.

March 28, 2009
8:30pm

"with more than 1,800 cities already on board, Earth Hour is set to be the biggest public event of its kind in history. In the U.S., 140 cities, towns and communities have now pledged to "turn out" for the largest climate event ever, with more signing up each day. A complete list of U.S. cities can be found at: www.EarthHourUS.org/map.php. Time is running out, but it's not too late to sign up your community or school. Visit www.EarthHourUS.org for all the details. "

here is a quick video... i cried. it's pretty impressive what we as a people can do.

i think we'll be laying it low at home, lights out of course- maybe sitting on our patio in candle light enjoying this weather. (i had the dates originally mixed up in my head... so we will not be at dave & buster's that was last weekend :)

what will you be doing? email me & let me know how you plan to support it!
