i turn 27. it's a harsh number because i am now in my late 20's. life is well on
it's way. i like where's it going though... i'm purty happy. i'm in atlanta right now-
my best friend sarah bought a house & i owed her big time in the moving
department so i helped her move in last night. we christened the house with some
corona's & a lime :)
i just got back from having lunch solo at alan's & now i'm getting ready to eat my
cute lil cream cheese pie thingee covered in fruit & sit on my aunt barb & uncle
don's porch & read my book. i love atlanta. it's a wonderful city.
i've received so many happy b-day wishes & i'm so thankful for all of you, but i
wanted to share one that made me smile.
i hope everyone has a wonderful tuesday.

naomi, jason & samuel
just welcomed a new addition to their family, baby girl, rachel. she was born on
friday the 13th. samuel was born on april's fools day! so they both have quite the
interesting birthdays :)
i met naomi back at nathan & isabelles's birthday in january. remember samuel-
he was afraid to touch the grass! well, he's gotten much bigger, braver & acquired a
new title of proud big brother.
here he is giving her kisses.
so cute!
we've got a thumb sucker!
i love how everyone is reaching for someone. so sweet. samuel knows what she
needs... the passy.
we attempted to get some of the whole family together but samuel is well into his
'i'm a boy here me roar' phase & he was much to busy to sit and pose :)
isn't he adorable? he has the best lil personality & is so sweet, i got like 4 hugs!
ms. rachel. isn't she adorable with that hand so perfectly resting on her cheek!
mom & dad holding on.
she is so little!
mom's got her safe & snug like a lil peanut.
so sweepy. poor lil finger nail scratches.
& then they brought out samuel's special vintage car. it was awesome.
mom showing him how it's done.
too freaken cute.
dad & samuel wrestling.
everybody admiring the baby.
i looooooooove this one.
peek-a-boo!
another favorite.
i'll end with a sweet lil detail.
thanks guys- i had such a great time hanging out with you all afternoon :)

pets911.com
being a pet owner & always wanting karma to be on my side i ALWAYS stop for stray/runaway dogs. today i saw this cute lil cocker spaniel running like a bat out of hell towards a major intersection near my house. by the time i was able to turn around i'd lost sight of her but noticed people in search mode- i yelled from my window "are you looking for a dog... she went that way" she'd gotten about 4 or 5 blocks further & hidden under an suv. three women were trying to coax her out. we finally got her with some water & wrapped her in a blanket & tried to drive back down the street looking for her owners. they were gone. probably home to get their car but that makes it impossible for me to find her or for them to know i have her. i took her by the animal hospital down the street. no chip- but they took my info in case they looked for her there. i posted her picture on pets911.com which is the point of this post.
i don't think many people know about this great lil website. hopefully her owners will find her posted here or notice the signs bryan & stapled up tonight around the neighborhood. she has no tags. such a sweet little girl & obviously well kept & loved. so here's to hoping we can find her owners!

new york city.
i love this city & there was a time near graduation that i really thought
i'd be moving there. it's got a great rhythm & i love allllll of the culture
that's around every corner. i have good friends that live there & have
showed me the best of the best every time i've visited. but this visit was
special because now my sister lives there! with her boyfriend, jeff, one of
those great friends i just mentioned.
now this trip was a few days longer than the d.c. leg but it felt even crazier.
we had so many people to see: stephi & jefe, maria & carson & then my aunt
& uncle from atlanta were randomly in town too.
we had a great time, despite the incredible humidity! we hit a couple bars
friday night, breakfast at the clubhouse in central park the next morning &
then we headed to long island for the belmont. we are horse people & having
missed the derby we were not going to miss a triple crown victory!!! unfortunately,
as you probably know big brown did not win, although i really respect his jockey
for pulling him back. this year doesn't need another horse tragedy on the books.
so we lost all of our money, except bryan who bet on denis something or another
and won enough to pay for most of our drinks :)
here are a few of the pics from our trip.
*since it was so hot, i didn't really take many- so this is a very random display of
a few of them!*
steph & jeff in front of the the most amazing desert place i know.
spending the morning casually walking in central park. next time we go we want to
ride the tandem bikes through it!
the beautiful entrace into the apple store!
the city that never sleeps.
some pretty architecture!
we took the ferry out & back again so bryan could see the city.
maria, carson, myself & b.
we left carson's apt sunday night. bryan headed off to the airport & i headed to steph's
apt where my aunt, my sister & i got ready for our big evening! we got all gussied up &
walked a few blocks to the movie theater to see dunn dunn dunn.... sex in the city! i got
to see it while in the city which made it even cooler!!
i loved it. everything about it. i think they did such a great job with it! i felt the full
range of emotions that those girls are always able to get out of me, frustration, excitement, annoyance & happiness. i left feeling very fulfilled. two seconds after we walked out my
uncle called & asked if we wanted to join him at a lounge for some drinks so i threw out my
arm & hailed us a cab! it was so much funnnn! i was like carrie. all dressed up & in heels-
no less. so of course we ordered cosmopolitans. several rounds & then we called it a night
& slept happily ever after. corny, i'm sorry. but it was a goooood night.
the next day i did a lil photo shoot with my aunt & uncle in steph's apt which is all white
& filled with card board boxes since her guests arrived the day after moving in! i didn't
have much to work with, but i think we got some cute ones!
barbara, is my most cherished role model. i lived with them one summer in college-
the only summer i didn't work at silver bay. she is my mom's oldest sibling of 11. i've
always had a special relationship with them & was so glad to see them, finally after 3
years of missing each other every time one of us visited ky.
barb wanted to do the shoot because she is on the steering committee of Circle of Sisters
& needed a good photo. this is an amazing organization that is helping women in need.
please click on the link above if you're intersted in hearing more about it.
my uncle don...
is without a doubt the most considerate, kind, handsome, loving man there is.
they are so sweet together. loving. fun. & supportive.
my favorite one.
that night barb & don took us to see the ballet performance don quixote. it was very
beautiful. i would definitely recommend it.
on tuesday i was able to explore the city while everyone else was working. my
favorite thing! it's such a huge city & to me i love the feeling of being such a tiny
party of it. i spent a good bit of the morning in strand, a local bookstore with an entire
floor of art & photography books. it was a good thing we didn't drive there.
& then i met up with barb & don & we did the soho thang. such a cool part of the city.
it was so hot that we decided we deserved mojitos & margarita's for lunch. the big
cups, no sissy little ones for us. these beautiful spider mums decorated our table.
just another naked lady.
& then. i ventured over to B&H, which is heaven for photographers. i was all ready
to buy some fun new toys, but this is what i saw when i arrived.
oh well. i guess someone was looking out for me.
new york, until next time. which now that steph lives there will probably be sooner
than later :)

There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will
require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay
for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the
'drive-through' Mastectomy where women are forced to go home just a
few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy
from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.
Please take a second to sign this bill. Thanks.

d.c.
it's been awhile since bryan & i have taken a vacation together- we go home
to ky. quite a bit, but i don't consider those vacations necessarily. we're always
so rushed & have a list a mile long of people we want to see. so. last wed we
flew to washington d.c to visit with our good friends theresa & jeff! they are
leaving in september for a year around the world. if you'd like to follow their
journey they've started a blog which is very interesting with details from where
& why to how much. we're hoping to visit them at some point while they're gone,
in which continent we've yet to decide.
it was way too short of a trip, but i'm glad we went. wednesday night we had
some pizza with t&j & bryan's cousin, shawn. later we went out for some drinks
& shawn's wife anya met up with us. the next morning we woke up bright & late;)
& theresa made us some waffles! then we headed out for our hike. theresa is a writer,
an amazing one at that & she just signed a contract to write a guidebook of hikes in
the d.c. area. we told her we wanted to do one of the tough ones with her & boy did
she give us just that. this hike will be labeled as butt-kicker, so far the only one.
old rag. that's it's name. doesn't sound scary, but it was intense. on several occasions
bryan would go first & we'd make him come back & push us (by this i mean me) up.
did i mention the humidity? it's been awhile since i've hiked with this partner & it
kicked my booty. lord have mercy it was hot.
anyways, here are some pics from our 9 mile adventure.
lots of skinny little passages.
aw. aren't we cute?
bryan was quite the dare devil. he even picked up a lil snake. but as you can see this
worm/ centipede type thing decided to dootie on him. haha.
to the top with a little help.
skinks getting their sun bathin on.
rock art.
king of the hill.
barn.
we went to some great thai place with a lil jazz band playing. the meal highlight was
the sticky rice & mango. yum.
cute lil group shot.
thanks theresa & jeff for having us for a few days! we hope you have an amazing few months
left in d.c. & then the adventure of your lifetime :)
